General Usage and Display

  1. How do I import contacts from my Brown Bear Software Windows Adr_book program?
Select Administration/Import from your web address book and make selections similar to these:
Click the Browse Button and locate your Adr_book data file. The file location is displayed in the top border of the Adr_book program. For the example below, the location is:

       C:\Program Files\Adr_book 5.8f\sample.adr

  2. What's the best size for uploaded photos?
Uploaded photos are resized to have a maximum width of 150 pixels, so almost any photo you upload will display properly.

Passwords and Security

  1. I forgot my passwords - how do I find them?
When you enter an incorrect password the login dialog box will display a "Send Passwords" button; the passwords for the address book will be emailed to the email address on record.

  2. Why can everybody still see my address book without entering a password? I did specify a password for "View" in the password settings page.
What's probably happening is that no password has been configured for the other security levels. If no password is specified for "Administer", everybody will have Admin permission - and anyone w/admin rights can always view the address book. (As well as Edit and Add events.)

  3. Can I have multiple users for my address book, with individual usernames and passwords?
No. Assigned passwords must be shared by those intended to view, add, edit or administer the address book.

  4. Can I include my password on the URL used to access the address book? How would I do this?
A password can be part of the URL to bypass the login prompt. e.g.

    http://www.brownbearsw.com/spiderfrock/myaddressbook/login?password=yourpassword
