Combinatorial Limits

What is the limit of a sequence of combinatorial objects? Graph theory finds applications is many areas like physics and computer science; and it is everywhere behind the scenes of our modern, technology oriented world. But what happens if the graphs under consideration get larger and larger? Within the last two decades, the theory of limits of discrete objects has been thriving, with the aim of capturing features of very large objects. It serves itself tools from measure theory, probability theory and functional analysis. In this talk, I will give a gentle introduction to different approaches to limit objects, we will discuss their advantages and see some applications in proofs of results about quasi-randomness.
