21 November 2019 - 20 December 2019
Nov 21 Thu

Hundreds of people will gather in Salem to demand that Governor Kate Brown use her authority to stop this destructive project once and for all. Can you join me in Salem on Thursday for this important event?

Governor Brown: The time is NOW!
When: Thursday, November 21. 11:00 AM.
Where: State Capitol, Salem (900 Court St.)

Please wear red!
Lunch: Hot and fresh Tamales will be provided for lunch, as well as sandwich fixins' for the travel home.

Carpools: To join a carpool or be in the "Cool Bus" going down for free, please email Dineen, at dineen@350pdx.org. (We are especially looking for people who can offer rides!)

In the next few months, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will try to rubber stamp this project. At the same time, the Trump Administration is attempting to rewrite important environmental laws, like the Clean Water Act, to take away states’ authority to stop fossil fuel projects like this. This is deeply wrong, unjust, and demands action from all of us.

It is a crime for Governor Brown to claim to be a "climate champion" while remaining silent on Jordan Cove—what would be our state's single largest emitter of greenhouse gases. I hope you'll join me in Salem next Thursday to echo the call to #StopJordanCove once and for all.

P.S. - Know you can't make it next week? We'll miss youbut you can still join us in demanding action! Click here to call or send a message to Governor Brown right now.

2019 ACTION NIGHTS series: where we'll be joining together every other week in community to take meaningful and strategic action together. From January to June, when the 2019 Oregon Legislature is in session, many Action Nights will be centered upon what's happening in the Capitol, with opportunities to hear direct reports from our Conservation Director and Lobbyist, and hold our elected officials accountable to the people who got them elected. Action Nights will be all about praxis: we'll be learning and growing our organizing skills, then we'll immediately put our new skills to use around a current issue happening in the session.
Our mission is to ensure that the transition to socialism in the United States is grounded in the sound ecological principles of sustainability and biodiversity. We recognize that human beings are fully part of the natural world, and that the unfettered exploitation of nature in pursuit of profit is destructive in ecological and social justice terms. We bear in mind the historical and present inequities imposed by prior forms of society, as intensified and exacerbated by modern capitalism.

Join us to talk about upcoming and potential campaigns, coalition for OPAL’s Up with Riders campaign, and ecosocialist events and activities!

Ongoing Campaigns:
🌹Stop the Jordan Cove LNG Pipeline
🌹Organize with coalition partners to build a Green New Deal for Oregon
🌹Organize events and activities to support public education about climate justice issues

On November 12th Israel began it's most recent attack on the Palestinian people in Gaza. In the first three days of the bombing 34 Palestinians were killed, and another 82 people were wounded.

We are coming together to hold an emergency protest to the ongoing war crimes of Israel and show that we will not stand idly by. Genocide against the Palestinian people will never be normalized. We must offer our solidarity and commitment to Palestinian liberation and freedom.

The bill set up a task force to write universal health care legislation for Oregon, which will be submitted to the legislature for passage. Part of Charles' talk will be on how we can give input to this task force to improve the upcoming legislation. He also will be providing info on how he sees this shaping up.
