Coffee Clubs are a place for women to come together, share biking experiences and get to know one another. All are welcome to stay for as long or little as you like on you way to the office. Non-commuters also welcome.

This event is open to all women, female-identifying, trans, and gender-nonconforming people who enjoy biking (or think that they might).

Dec 4 Tue
A community forum about forests, carbon, and climate change

As the climate continues to change at a rapid pace, Oregonians are talking more about ways to reduce the carbon emissions from our energy and transportation sectors; however, notably absent from these conversations is one of Oregon’s largest sources of carbon emissions: logging.

Join us on December 4 for an insightful discussion about the relationship between the climate and our forests.

At our forum, we’ll be hearing from experts about how the clearcutting industry is a major source of carbon emissions and how forests, when protected from industrial logging, can mitigate climate change by capturing and storing vast amounts carbon. We’ll also discuss the latest scientific research about how protecting more of our old-growth forests can help plants and animals adapt to the impacts of climate change. We'll conclude by highlighting a few ways you can take action on this important issue.

This free event is being organized by Oregon Wild, the Climate Action Coalition, the Community for Earth, and 350 PDX, with support from numerous groups from the Portland area.

There will be a happy hour before the event and several organizations from around the area will have tables set up. This event is part of a series of educational forums around the state about how our forests can help fight climate change. The “Forest Defense is Climate Defense” tour will also be making stops in Corvallis, Eugene, Oregon City, Newport, and other communities around Oregon.

Every holiday season Portland Jobs with Justice comes together to celebrate our community, and to vote for the winner of the not-so-coveted annual Scrooge of the Year Award. This award is voted on by the community (that’s you!) and is given each year to a bad boss, a politician, a corporation, or some other deserving institution that has been particularly nasty in the past year.

Of course, we think it’s important that the voting process for this award is true to our American democratic system. That’s right – this election is for sale! You can purchase as many votes as you want for as many different candidates as you want to let your voice be heard in deciding the worst #badboss in town.

Admission to the award party is $15 pre-sale, $20 at the door.

Each admission ticket comes with 20 free votes. Additional votes available online and at the party for $1 per vote. Votes will be available to purchase online at the JwJ website starting on November 5th at 6pm.

Click Here to get your admission tickets with 20 free votes today!

Nominations close this Friday November 2nd and are accepted by organizations only.
Click Here and fill out the form on our website if your organization would like to nominate a bad boss, business, or other entity that is deserving of this no-so-coveted award.
