Coffee Clubs are a place for women to come together, share biking experiences and get to know one another. All are welcome to stay for as long or little as you like on you way to the office. Non-commuters also welcome.

This event is open to all women, female-identifying, trans, and gender-nonconforming people who enjoy biking (or think that they might).

Please join us at The Armory on August 16 for the last film in the Peace of the City summer series: The Devil We Know.

An exposé of the DuPont corporation's decades-long efforts to deny the adverse effects of chemicals used in Teflon kitchenware, The Devil We Know unravels one of the biggest environmental scandals of our time.

Probing and eye-opening, the film focuses its lens on a courageous group of citizens in West Virginia, following along as they take on DuPont after discovering it has knowingly been dumping the toxic chemical behind Teflon—now found in the blood of 99.7% of Americans—into the local drinking water supply.

This Portland premiere screening will be followed by a Q&A with the Oregon Environmental Council and other special guests.

Forty-six years ago, in 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” Thanks to Congresswoman Bella Abzug who got it passed, the date was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that granted women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York. Observance of Women’s Equality Day not only commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.
