2019 ACTION NIGHTS series: where we'll be joining together every other week in community to take meaningful and strategic action together. From January to June, when the 2019 Oregon Legislature is in session, many Action Nights will be centered upon what's happening in the Capitol, with opportunities to hear direct reports from our Conservation Director and Lobbyist, and hold our elected officials accountable to the people who got them elected. Action Nights will be all about praxis: we'll be learning and growing our organizing skills, then we'll immediately put our new skills to use around a current issue happening in the session.

Despite her rebellion against the music industry, Ani DiFranco became one of the most prolific indie artists — selling over 5.5 million albums and winning numerous awards, including a Grammy. In her new memoir, DiFranco shares the unconventional path that led her to become a music industry and activist trailblazer while maintaining an artistic integrity that has inspired and challenged many.

DiFranco will be joined in conversation by Cari Luna, author of The Revolution of Every Day. In a dialogue based on her life and her memoir No Walls and the Recurring Dream, DiFranco shows the bared soul of an artist who redefined what it means to be a successful musician and how to use a public platform for change.

Price includes a copy of DiFranco’s No Walls and the Recurring Dream. Books distributed at event.

Adam Savage — star of Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters and one of the most beloved figures in science and tech — shares his golden rules of creativity, from finding inspiration to following through and successfully turning your idea into reality.

Adam Savage is a maker. From Chewbacca’s bandolier to a thousand-shot Nerf gun, he has built thousands of spectacular projects as a special effects artist and the co-host of Mythbusters. Savage is also an educator, passionate about instilling the principles of making in the next generation of inventors and inspiring them to turn their curiosity into creation.

In Every Tool’s a Hammer, Savage weaves together vivid personal stories, original sketches and photographs from some of his most memorable projects, and interviews with many of his iconic and visionary friends in the arts and sciences to demonstrate the many lessons he has picked up from a lifetime of making.

In a talk based on his new book, Savage is sure to guide and inspire you to build, make, invent, explore, and most of all, enjoy the thrills of being a creator.

Price includes a copy of Savage’s Every Tool’s a Hammer. Books distributed at event.

Tickets will be available beginning Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m.
